Look what came in through the doggy door!

Imagine coming home from work to find this tiny creature napping on your couch with your dog?  Guess who came home for dinner?  It followed this beagle home, right through the doggy door. The owner came home to find this little visitor had made himself right at home!

This comical but endearing movie is based on the best-selling autobiographical book by columnist John Grogan.  Staring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, Marley & Me is a tale of a newlywed couple embarking on their adventure of life together with what seems to be the world's worst dog. Newlywed John takes his blonde lab puppy home to surprise his wife only to discover this cute bundle of fluff has this uncanny ability to eat and/or destroy just about anything.  Over the years John and his wife, Jennifer, move across the country and contemplate having babies, whilst Marley grows into a 100 lb. amusing, wild and completely untrainable companion.

Ideal Rewards

The most ideal rewards to give to your dog are usually the smelliest.  Dog trainers prefer to use dehydrated bits of liver, however, small bits of cheese or yeast tablets are often just as effective.  To discover what your dog's favourite reward is, a little trial and error may be required.  It is important to ensure that your dog's favourite reward is then only used when training.

Originating from Mexico the Chihuahua is one of the oldest breeds.  A favourite with the elderly and those living in apartments who prefer constant companionship and an impressive early warning system when strangers approach! Demanding attention wherever they go these little pocket dynamos are no pushovers, although small and fragile, they are spirited and animated.

Any owner of the cheeky, yet adorable Chihuahua will use words like 'feisty', 'cunning', 'clever' and 'protective'. Rightly so as they can make wonderful watch dogs. They are without a doubt the ultimate lapdog.

Question & Answer

I have 2 Bichon Frise dogs who are 9 months old. I give them raw chicken necks but never give them left over bones as I'm not sure if they should be cooked. Do I give them cooked or raw bones?

You are doing the right thing by feeding them raw chicken necks. You can even give them raw chicken wings or raw chicken carcasses. I have a small poodle who eats all of the above. Never, feed your dog any cooked bones of any type whatsoever, because the bones dry out once they have been cooked which cause splintering and once digested they can set like concrete in the dog's intestines which could cause a major blockage requiring urgent veterinary treatment.

Joke of the Month

A man followed a women with a dog out of the movie theatre and said to her "I am amazed that your dog seemed to really like the movie. He even laughed like crazy at the funny bits, yawned during the boring spots and cried at the sad parts.  Don't you find that strange?" The lady replied "Yes, I find it very strange, especially since he hated the book".
