My Dog Skip

The popular memoir by author Willie Morris became this family comedy-drama about a boy and his dog. Young Willie Morris (Frankie Muniz) is a shy eight-year-old in 1942 Yazoo City, Mississippi, who is more comfortable reading than playing sports. A target for local bullies, Willie's only real pal is his older next-door neighbor Dink Jenkins (Luke Wilson), once the town's living sports legend and a big brother figure to Willie. When Dink is shipped overseas for service in World War II, Willie's mother Ellen (Diane Lane) buys a Jack Russell named Skip against his father's wishes (Kevin Bacon). The smart and playful Skip gets his owner into a series of adventures, quickly turning Willie into a popular, accepted kid who even wins the affections of the school's prettiest girl, Rivers Applewhite (Caitlin Wachs). Dink returns from war branded a coward after an incident that occurred in combat but finds an unexpected ally in Jack, a fellow veteran. The movie teaches us about friendship, family, love and dedication. The role of Skip was played in later scenes by the star of television's Frasier.

Always try to feed good quality dog food to extend the life and health of your dog.

One of the most popular breeds of 2009, Labradors are at their happiest when they are with you.  They are loving, people oriented dogs. They are wonderfully patient with children and make a great addition to any family.  Not known for their guard dog qualities they may bark quite protectively but will generally not act more aggressively than that. They take many things in their stride, are very stable, not getting upset by strange things or occurrences. They would more than likely lick someone to death than hurt them.  Easy to train and their superior stability is why they are used as guide dogs, drug and bomb detector dogs and makes them one of the most popular choices for a family pet.

Q    My dog is always eating grass. Is there something I can give him to help calm his tummy? He doesn't have worms?

A    It is fairly common for dogs to eat grass in small amounts as it is a natural response for their digestive system.  If your dog is eating grass in big amounts he may be experiencing stomach upsets, which could be diet related.  Perhaps you may need to look at his diet to see if you need to change it to perhaps a more natural way of feeding him such as raw meats and small amounts of a good quality low salt and preservative free dry food.

Talking Dog for Sale

A guy sees a sign in front of a house "Talking Dog for Sale." He rings the door bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard and goes around to see the dog just sitting there. "You talk?" he asks.
"Yeh," the dog replies. "So, what's your story?" The dog looks up
and says, "Well, I discovered this gift pretty young and I wanted to help
the government, so I told them about my gift. They signed me up with the CIA. I was one of their most valuable spies for six years. Too young to retire I applied for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings there and was awarded a batch of medals. Had a wife, a mess of puppies, and now I'm retired." The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog. The owner says, "Ten dollars." The guy says, "Why on earth are you selling him, so cheap?" The owner replies, "He's such a liar. He didn't do any of that."
