Puppy Love Goes to the Bone - Best Dog Story
by Cairns Post - 12 February 2010
Buddy owes her life to Hurley the Greyhound
A pure breed English Staffordshire Terrier, six week old pup owes her life to a blood transfusion from a gentle Greyhound more than 15 times her size. Ms Sami Knoblock rushed her sick dog, Buddy to the Brinsmead Veterinary Surgery where Dr Max Fargher found a hookworm infestation that had caused a massive hemorrhage. With Buddy at death's door, Dr Fargher raced home to get his trusty pooch Hurley, a male, six year old 34kg Greyhound. A life-saving blood transfusion was then performed by transferring a "drop" of Hurley's blood - 120ml - to Buddy. Buddy is now in good spirits thanks for Hurley. Ms Knoblick, who had only bought home Buddy five days earlier, said "Now Buddy is running around like nothing happened!". Click here to read or post comments.
